On Friday, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg finalized his purchase of the Canvas learning management system. “We plan to revolutionize the social experience and application of the site,” said Zuckerberg, adding that many new updates will be coming to Canvas, such as being able to “like” and “dislike” various posts ranging from discussion boards to the professor’s own syllabus. Users will also be able to dislike the professors themselves, and their ratings will be recorded and sent to RateMyProfessors.
“I think I speak for the rest of my comrades when I say I’m very excited,” said Management Information Systems student Pladimir Vutin. According to Vutin, Canvas will serve as the Russian Students Association’s main event for their annual hackathon.
“We are all huge fans of Zuckerberg’s social networks,” Vutin went on to say. “Facebook assisted me greatly financially, and I expect Canvas will allow me to do the same, academically.”
